Ensuring our buildings are safe for all who work in or visit them is of primary importance to us. Health and safety is part of our management culture from the top of our organisation all the way through to the day-to-day operations of our buildings. All our team and our managing agents are aware that nothing is as important as making sure our buildings are safe to use. We constantly check and monitor all aspects of health and safety making sure regulatory checks and inspections are carried out on time and acted upon, records are kept up to date and works are carried out to keep equipment in a safe condition.

We regularly spot-check the work our managing agents are doing, carry out visits to buildings to check on their condition, make sure they are safe and review reports to identify actions which need to be taken to maintain safety. In 2021, our health and safety record continued to be strong with no reportable accidents, near misses or other health and safety incidents during the year. We were 99% compliant in all critical and secondary health and safety documentation. Our Health & Safety Committee meets every two months. The Committee reports directly to the Responsibility Committee. In addition the Board regularly reviews health and safety matters.

The Committee reviews all aspects of health and safety across our portfolio and in our own office. It reviews the health and safety reports provided by our managing agents and constantly looks at ways in which we can improve our approach in this area including, for example, promoting projects for specific items such as improving lighting at some of our estates and assessing what training our team requires. We have been installing defibrillators at some of our offices, for example, Stanford Building, London and Atlas House, Marlow. During the year we updated our Incident Response and Business Continuity Strategies, and we also verified the current strategies adopted for these areas by our managing agents.

All of our team were provided with training on fire safety and general health and safety by health and safety professionals. In 2022 we will be looking at general first aid training for some of our team as well as CPR training which would be in conjunction with other occupiers at Stanford Building, London.
